What is UN

On April 25, 1945, fifty states gathered in San Francisco to begin drafting the UN Charter, which was eventually approved on June 25, 1945. The organisation's goals are to preserve world peace, defend international law, protect human rights, provide humanitarian help, and promote sustainable development. The UN presently includes 193 countries as members, up from 51 at the time of its founding.
