Team Development Technique and Organizational Performance among Selected Manufacturing Firms in Enugu State

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between   team development technique and organizational performance among selected manufacturing firms in Enugu State. The specific objectives include to; determine the relationship between of attending conferences by employees and the profitability of manufacturing firms in Enugu State; assess the extent of relationship between brainstorming sessions among employees and affects productivity of manufacturing firms in Enugu State; ascertain the extent skill of employees and efficiency of manufacturing firms in Enugu State and ascertain the relationship between knowledge sharing among employees and product quality of manufacturing firms in Enugu State. The study had a population of 1836 employees drawn from among selected manufacturing firms in Enugu State. The sample size of 297 was drawn using Freud and Williams formula at 5 percent error margin. A survey design was adopted for the study. Instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. A total of 297 copies of questionnaire were distributed while 268 were returned. Four hypotheses were tested using Chi-Square ( ). The findings indicated that Attending conferences by employees have positive significant relationship with the profitability of manufacturing firms in Enugu State c2(95,n =297)=77.124,P<0.05; Brainstorming sessions among employees has positive significant effect on the productivity of manufacturing firms in Enugu State.c2(95, n  =297)=62.644,P 0.05; Skill of employees has positive significant effect on the efficiency of manufacturing firms in Enugu State   (95, n  297) =41.604 , P < 0.05.The study concludes that the team development technique has as great influence on organization performance as attending conferences by employees, Brainstorming sessions among employees, Skill of employees and Knowledge sharing among employees have improved relationship with the profitability, productivity, efficiency, and product quality of the manufacturing firms. The study recommends that attending conferences by employees should be encouraged by the management of any organization to improve efficiency and productivity; Brainstorming sessions in the organization must not be left in the organization for effective decision making
