The Impact of Human Resource Training and Development in Public Enterprises: An Empirical Study

Abstract


The purpose of this study is to investigate HR training and development and its impact on the performance of enterprises. Indeed, workforce with skills based on the industry needs and current technologies plays important role in the enterprises. Therefore, this study carefully selected different factors or attributes for investigation. The factors include HR training activities, employee involvement, and employee perceived benefits, customer service quality and organizational commitment to mediate and achieve HR transformation to have optimal productivity. Two public sector enterprises of India such as Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) are considered for the research. Survey is quantitative research method used for the study. Proportionate Convenient Random Sampling is the sampling method employed. The sample size is 1000 that covers officers and workers of both the enterprises. The respondents are administered with questionnaire and primary data is collected. The results are analyzed and interpreted with different statistical methods such as ANOVA, Pearson correlation etc. which are supported by SPSS tool. The analysis is categorized into five attributes aforementioned. The findings revealed the trends in the training and development dynamics in both the public enterprises.
