Life Style of Sea Beach Vendors of Bangladesh

Abstract


The overall aim of this study was to assess the lifestyle of floating vendors especially in the children group in sea beach at Cox’s Bazar. Majority respondents were (57.65%) in the age group between 11 to 20 years and minimum (0.51%) were between 61-70 years. About 69.38% respondents had completed primary education and S.S.C and H.S.C qualifications had 7.14% and 1.02% respectively. Most of the respondents (42%) were belong to lower socioeconomic status and upper middle class were 13.78% only. The study also revealed that majority of the respondents (68.88%) lived in their own house and minority (1.02%) lived in the market premises. Fifty percent respondents suffered from various nonspecific diseases rather than diarrhea, fever, peptic ulcer disease and skin diseases. Most of the respondents preferred to take primary health care services from government hospital and 74.49% were vaccinated too. Besides above, many mixed outcomes were derived from the study. This paper argues that it is worthwhile to respond to the proliferation of waft vending beyond the modernist planning approach.
