Study of Current Practice of General Practitioner about Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Abstract


It is very distressing that no base line study have been done in Bahawalpur to have knowledge about the current practices of general practitioners about the STI case management. Therefore it is very pertinent to study the practices of general medical practitioners about this ice berg phenomenon regarding STIs. The main purpose of this study is to help in identifying areas which requires further intervention, need of any training of general practitioners, and planning strategies for prevention, control and improvement in the management of STIs. The main domain of study is to see the current practices of general practitioners including quacks as single group regarding the STI case management from urban and rural areas of Bahawalpur district. A sample size of 75 general medical practitioners of will be interviewed by using a questionnaire. The results show that the practices of private medical practitioners regarding the sexually transmitted infections are not satisfactory in the area of District Bahawalpur. There should be continuous education programs (CME) for medical practitioners in private practice on regular basis.
