Issues of Tribes in India: Education and Health

Abstract


The Scheduled Tribe population represents one of the most economically impoverished and marginalized groups in India. With a population of more than 10.2 crores, India has the single largest tribal population in the world. The tribes of India constitute 8.6 per cent of the total population of the country. Health and education, the primary agents of transformation towards development. The aim of this paper is to analyse the status of health and tribal education with literacy rate. The analysis is based on secondary data of Census of India, 2011.
